Skill Development
Strategies Collection

Turn constraints into a complete, practical skill system for your team

Most coaches believe in skills.

Very few have a clear, repeatable system to develop them.

If you’re tired of random drills, “technique” sets that don’t stick, and hoping skills show up on race day, this is for you.

The Skill Development Strategies Collection gives you:

  • 6 strategy manuals

  • ~450 example sets

  • 1 short video explanation for every set

…so you can plug world‑class skill work straight into your existing training plan.

Big promise: Write better skill‑focused practices faster and with more confidence, and finally use stroke counts, drills, resistance, stroke rates, training aids, and hand postures in a deliberate, systematic way that actually shows up when swimmers go fast.

Who This Is For

The Skill Development Strategies Collection is for competitive swim coaches who:

  • Are tired of random drills and “technique” sets that don’t stick

  • Want a clear, modern skill framework that still fits their existing training philosophy

  • Coach competitive swimmers of all ages (age group to senior)

  • Want to APPLY constraints effectively, instead of guessing

If you’ve ever thought, “I know these tools matter, but I’m not sure I’m using them well,” this is built for you.

The Problem: Lots Of Tools, No System

You already use:

  • Stroke counts

  • Drills

  • Fins, paddles, and other training aids

  • Resistance

  • Stroke rates

  • Different hand postures

But without a system, they show up like this:

  • A drill here, a “technique” set there

  • Stroke counts used once a week with no progression

  • Random resistance sets that don’t build skills

  • Stroke rates only mentioned during taper

Result: swimmers see these as one‑off novelties, not a consistent part of how they train. Skills fall apart the moment they have to go fast under fatigue.

You don’t need more drills.

You need a way to use the tools you already have with intent.

And you need to learn how to use them as effectively as possible.

The Solution: A Complete Skill Tool System

The Skill Development Strategies Collection shows you how to use every major skill tool in your program with clarity and intent.

Instead of “we should probably do some stroke count work,” you get:

  • What stroke counts are for

  • When to use them (and when not to)

  • Multiple ways they can show up in practice

  • Exact sets you can run tomorrow – with a short video explaining why they’re built that way

Same for drills, resistance, stroke rates, training aids, and hand positions.

You don’t start from a blank page. You start from a tested pattern, then adapt it for your team.

What You Get Inside

1. Six Strategy Manuals (PDF)

Each volume covers one primary tool:

  • How To Use Stroke Counts

  • How To Use Drills

  • How To Use Resistance

  • How To Use Stroke Rates

  • How To Use Training Aids

  • How To Use Hand Postures

For every tool you get:

  • The underlying principles:

  • When and why to use it

  • Different ways to use it in practices

  • Clear guidelines for:

  • Progressing the tool

  • Applying it across strokes

  • Avoiding common mistakes

You’ll stop guessing and start saying, “We’re using this tool today for this specific reason.”

2. ~450 Example Sets + 1 Explanation Video Per Set

Across the six manuals you get roughly 450 example sets that show every different way you can use each tool across:

  • All four strokes and underwater kicking

  • Different types of training

For every set, you get:

  • The written set itself

  • A short ~90‑second video walkthrough (mp4 + YouTube) where I explain:

    • Why it’s designed the way it is

    • What problem it solves

    • The role that specific strategy plays in solving the problem

Coaches can:

  • Copy sets directly into practice, or

  • Use them as templates and tweak distances / setup while keeping the same idea, using the video explanations as a guide.

You’re never staring at your plan thinking, “OK, but what do I actually write?” You’ll have examples for almost every scenario.

How This Fits Your Existing Training

You do NOT have to change your approach to training.

Your training philosophy doesn’t have to change at all.

You’re just using much more effective skill development tools inside what you already do.

You can:

  • Drop 1–2 sets into your current warm‑up or pre‑set to sharpen skills

  • Build short “skill blocks” inside aerobic or race‑pace work

  • Use the same ideas across groups, with different distances and intervals

Because each set comes with a video explaining the “why” and how to adapt it, you can scale it:

  • Up for senior groups who can handle more volume & intensity

  • Down for younger swimmers who need shorter distances or simpler challenges

Why This Is Different From Just “More Drills”

Not just theory
Every idea is tied to concrete sets and video explanations. You see what it looks like in real workouts.

Not a rigid program
You don’t have to throw out what’s working. You can plug pieces into your existing training model.

Systematic, not one‑off tricks
You get all the major tools (stroke counts, drills, resistance, stroke rates, training aids, hand positions) covered in one place so you’re not piecing things together from random YouTube videos.

FAQ

Q: How much time will this take to implement?

You can start with a single set. Many coaches begin by:

  • Adding one stroke count or resistance set 2–3 times per week, or

  • Swapping their existing “technique” set for one of the examples and watching what happens.

You do not have to “finish” the manuals or videos before using the content.

Q: Does this work in yards and meters? Short course and long course?

Many of the sets use 25s, because most programs train in 25‑yard/meter pools and 25s are ideal for small blocks of focused skill work. It’s straightforward to adjust any set for 50‑meter pools or different distances. I don’t prescribe exact intervals, because those vary widely by age and ability. Instead, I show you how to think about the intensity and rest so you can set appropriate intervals for your group.

Q: How is this different from your book / Stroke Fundamentals / other products?

  • Stroke Fundamentals and my book focus on what creates speed and the fundamentals of skills.  Stroke Fundamentals also provides specific drills for these skills.

  • The Skill Development Strategies Collection focuses on how to use the tools (stroke counts, drills, resistance, etc.) in daily practice to build those skills, with exact sets and video explanations.

They stack together. Fundamentals tell you what to build. Strategies show you how to build it in practice.

Q: I’ve already bought some of the earlier Strategy volumes. Am I double-paying?

No. During launch, you’ll get a private upgrade link based on how many you own so your average price per volume is lower than someone buying the full bundle today.

Q: Do I need to change my entire program to use this?

No. This is designed to plug into your existing training. You can:

  • Start with one tool (e.g., stroke counts)

  • Add 1–2 sets per week

  • Expand as you see the impact

  • Use what you like, leave what you don’t

Q: Is this for age group or senior swimmers?

Yes, both. The sets and videos include notes on how to adjust for:

  • Younger swimmers (simpler distances, more rest, simpler constraints)

  • Older swimmers (more volume, tighter intervals, more complex constraints)

The tools and principles are the same. Only the way you apply them changes, and I show you how in the manuals and videos.

Q: Do I have to use all six strategies right away?

No. Most coaches start with one or two tools (often stroke counts and drills), add 1–2 sets per week, and expand as they see the impact. You can roll this out gradually instead of changing everything at once.

If you still have questions, email me and I’ll tell you whether this is a fit for your situation, and why.
